Cleaning urine in clothing

Many elderly adults in daycare or nursing homes are often shunned by others because of the lingering odor of urine in clothing. While many laundry detergents will remove the urine stains from the clothing, the odor remains. Continued bouts of incontinence only compound the odor, with the end result that the person is often avoided by other adults in the community.

The majority of products on the market designed to remove urine stains and odors are enzyme-based products. These products tend to neutralize and mask the odor. While they work reasonably well for general urine cleanup, they often fail when urine seeps into and throughout clothing and other materials.

Urine Contamination Treatment (UTC) is formulated differently than enzyme based products. It attacks urine odor by changing the chemical formula. Once changed, the odor is removed--- and the odor does not return!

UTC is simple to use and is formulated to work with regular laundry detergents.

It is best to separate urine soaked clothes from general laundry.  Add laundry detergent and fabric softener as needed. Add one ounce (small capful) of UCT or two ounces for heavily soiled clothes. Wash clothes as soon as possible. UTC is odorless, so the resulting laundry should smell as it would from the detergent.

Helpful hint for daycare and nursing homes. Many daycare and nursing homes provide laundry services for their clients. Some centers have clients who live on tight budgets and cannot afford to purchase UTC. Unfortunately, the odor problem, and consequently, the social issues remain. One of our customers solved this problem by adding a .25 to .50 cent surcharge onto laundry fee. There were no complaints about the fee--- but there were a number of people in the home who suddenly discovered that they were once again popular and welcome at social gatherings.
