Bathless Baths--- Bathing a difficult person

 Bathing Solutions

What do you do when a loved one with Alzheimer's refuses to bathe?
A caregiver shouldn't fight with a difficult person; the caregiver should look for an easy way out.  We have some solutions.  Various manufacturers have developed cleaning aides to make it easier to clean patients in a hospital. These products also make the home caregiver’s life easier.
One Step or No Rinse Soaps
Regular soap leaves a residue on the body which needs to be rinsed off with water. A rinseless soap requires no rinsing. The soap is applied onto a cloth and then used to wipe the patient clean. It’s a one-step process.
Foaming Soaps
Lathering is half the fun of bathing; it gives us that squeaky clean feeling. When a person is difficult to bathe, lathering only adds to the battle. A foaming soap lathers quickly and is easier to rinse away. When the goal is to get the person clean quickly, foaming soap works.
 Shampoo and Body Wash
One product that cleans hair and the body! Who ever thought of such a simple solution?
If the patient doesn't like to shower, this will make the caregiver's job easier.  It's a quick solution for difficult patients.
Bathing/ Adult Wipes
These work just like baby wipes, but are larger in size and more substantial than the baby variety. Consider using these one-step wipes for an easy and effective cleaning solution.  They work well in an emergency, but they also make for a quick and effective cleaning when there is just not enough energy left after a tiring day.  Remember, many adults don't need a bath every day.  Wipes are both cleansing and refreshing.
