What is Environmentally Friendly Cleaning?

Allsclean defines the term as “cleaning that does no harm to the environment or the people using the product.”  This means that the product is safe to use around people who are sensitive to chemicals or have allergic reactions to chemicals and that the product won’t harm the environment in any way. 

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), cleaning chemicals are one of the causes of indoor air pollution.  Studies have found that indoor air pollution may be 2 to 5 times higher than the pollution outside.  Environmentally friendly cleaning does not contribute to the toxic chemicals trapped within the home.

Additionally, many cleaning products contribute to the toxins found in our bays, lakes, streams and oceans, as well as in the ground.  A cleaning product that meets our standards as being earth friendly must not pollute the environment if it is released.

Who certifies the claim that the products are safe?
Unlike many other manufacturers and distributors, Allsclean recognizes the importance of independent verification of claims.  We don’t want you to take just our word for our claims, but we seek ways to prove it. Our Ecogent brand has been rigorously tested by independent agencies.  Each of these agencies has standards which must be met in order to earn the certification.

What does the certification mean?
Each agency supplies a different type of certification.  Essentially they all state that Ecogent meets the environmental standard for industrial and institutional cleaners based on its low or minimal impact on humans, water quality, air quality and overall impact on the environment.  Certification also states that Ecogent is suitable for use by and around asthmatics and those who suffer from chemical hypersensitivity_-

Is Ecogent  safe to use around asthmatics, people with chemical sensibilities, children, pets and the elderly?

Ecogent is safe and has the same oral toxicity as water. Ecogent has been designed to be used and is certified for use around individuals with asthma and other chemical sensitivities.   Ecogent is biodegradabe.  What does that mean?
  One of the standard tests to classify a product as an environmentally friendly one is how it degrades or breaks down after use. Most bio-degradation tests consider a substance’s ability to degrade under aerobic conditions (where oxygen is available) but not under anaerobic conditions (where oxidation cannot occur). In fact many raw materials used in detergents claiming biodegradability--even ready biodegradability--are not significantly degraded under anaerobic conditions.

Ecogent is readily degradable under all environmental conditions.  Ecogent degrades completely with or without the presence of oxygen.  The fact that Ecogent degrades without oxygen is extremely important in maintaining the health of our waters.  Many toxic chemicals seep into bay, river, lake and ocean sediment, where they cannot degrade without oxygen.  These chemicals also find their way into waste treatment plants and septic systems.
